If you are the leader of a climate project that is proving to be a bit difficult, if you are stuck a plateau that you can’t seem to overcome or if it is starting to be too much: consider getting support tailored to your specific situation through our Climate Leader Mentoring Program, free thanks to our volunteers.

The program is a three-month journey: You will be working one-on-one with a mentor, spending 30 minutes to an hour each week. In the first one or two meetings you define what you want to achieve. The later meetings focus on taking stock of what you have accomplished, what worked and what didn’t, and what your steps in the next week will be.

We welcome everybody, regardless of your level of experience, whether your project is just starting out or already well underway – we’re here to give climate projects a leg up! Especially when you are unhappy with the current state of affairs in your initiative, it’s the right time to ask for a mentor.

Interested? Find out about the program structure here, get to know some of our mentors in the Mentor Gallery – and then send us a message so we can contact you to match you with your mentor!

If you still have questions or want to hear from other participants, review our Mentee FAQs.

You are searching for the pathway to making your difference

Many of us stand at a crossroad: aware that it’s high time to start contributing to a healthy planet beyond the confines of our own four walls yet stuck in limbo because we haven’t found our personal expression for that commitment.

You are not alone in that place, and you are welcome to make use of our program to discover where your passion lies and how you want to get involved.

Your mentor will help you discover what has been holding you back and identify ways to overcome (or better yet, circumvent) those barriers.

Our anger about the state of the environment is what frequently fuels our actions, but while arger provides a lot of energy, it does not nurture you and being against something is emotionally draining. Finding out what you stand for, what you really care about, may take some time but will motivate you much more reliably.

You should also assess how much time and energy you can sustainably invest given your current life circumstances.

Armed with a clear view of the factors above, you can define a path of action to find (or create!) your niche.

To get started on this path, please contact us and we will get in touch with you to match you with a mentor.

Participate as a Mentor

Mentoring has its own special rewards: it is very satisfying to watch somebody you are supporting succeed and there’s the joy of actually putting some of your life experience into words such that your mentee can benefit from it in their specific situation.

Meet some of our mentors and learn they got from being on the program in our Mentor Gallery.

In most cases, our mentors do not have experience in the subject matter of their mentee’s project, and that is actually a good thing, as you might otherwise be tempted to tell your mentee what to do!

Our mission is to create the space for the mentee to discover their path for themselves, with your input guiding them to broaden their perspective and your curiosity raising questions that they may never have asked before.

You also provide the opportunity for your mentee to commit to what they will tackle by the next call – and to discuss the outcome, learn from the expereince and make adjustments along the way.

We also task you with being generous in acknowledging your mentee – of what they have achieved and of the difference their initiative is making, even if the results don’t meet expectations. – Every conversation they have with people around their project has its impact in raising awareness, even if that impact is not measurable and even if a myriad of such conversations is needed to change the world we live in to one that florishes in all regards!

Many of our mentors have projects of their own underway and some have been mentees as well as mentors at the same time. Some of our mentees have gone on to be mentors in a later intake, in keeping with our prinicple of “paying it forward” but also a reflection on our mentors requiring emotional intelligence more than practical experience. You don’t have to be “old” to be a mentor!

Because being a mentor is not time intensive (you’ll be having one conversation of 30 minutes to an hour once a week as agreed with your mentee), this is a way to generate a big impact even if you are already very busy in your own life. This could be a great opportunity for e.g. a stay-at-home parent to have a weekly “adult” conversation about a topic that matters and contribute the full breadth of their pervious work and life experience.

As a mentor, you commit to being available for the duration of one mentoring cycle of 3 months. Find out about the program structure here.

Interested? Please contact us so we can get in touch with you for a conversation!
